The Bridge That Set a Record

Dedicated in October 1910, the Detroit-Rocky River Bridge stretched 708 feet across the gorge to Lakewood. Its 280-foot main arch was made of concrete with no steel reinforcing, and at the time it was the longest unreinforced concrete arch in the world. The old bridge wore out and was replaced by today’s span in 1980. Its western arches were saved, and an office building now stands on top of them.

30 Foot Obstacle Course with Slide rental in Rocky River, OHParty stopBuild a span of your own with the 30 Foot Obstacle Course with Slide. Kids go in the front, weave through pop-ups and crawl tunnels, climb the wall and race down the slide. It needs about 20 x 35 ft and one circuit.

The Library With a Pottery Museum

Inside the Rocky River Public Library is the Cowan Pottery Museum, the largest publicly owned collection of Cowan Pottery in the world. That’s more than 1,200 pieces of American art pottery, much of it made right here in Rocky River from 1920 to 1931. About 40% of the collection is on view at any one time, with displays that rotate.

Spin Art rental in Rocky River, OHParty stopYour guests can make art to take home too. Spin Art comes with six paint colors, 50 cards and pens for signing each piece. Drip paint onto the spinning card, and every one comes out different. It needs a table and one outlet, and an adult should supervise.

The Valley Next Door

The Rocky River itself winds through the Rocky River Reservation, a Cleveland Metroparks valley of trails, picnic areas and shale cliffs along the city’s edge. It’s a reminder that a good party doesn’t need much more than open grass and a crowd of kids.

Parachute Party Pack rental in Rocky River, OHParty stopBring that open-field feeling to your yard with the Parachute Party Pack: a 20 ft parachute, a 6 ft one for the littlest guests and a set of play balls. Make waves, bounce the balls and run underneath to swap spots. It suits ages 3 and up and needs no power.

The Lake at the End of the River

The river empties into Lake Erie at Rocky River’s northern edge, and the city has lived beside the water since settlers first explored the river mouth in 1805. Before the bridges, people crossing the river had to wade across or take a ferry.

Penguin Fish Fling rental in Rocky River, OHParty stopBring some lake-side fishing to the party with the Penguin Fish Fling. Stomp the spring-loaded flinger and try to land a fish in one of the penguin’s two baskets. It’s simple for kids and surprisingly competitive for adults, and it needs no power.
