Planner’s Notes
Do you deliver to Independence 44131? Yes. Independence is about 26 miles and roughly 38 minutes from our Norton warehouse, so it’s well inside our regular delivery area.
Can you work around a weekday office schedule? Yes. Tell us your start time and where to unload, and we’ll set a delivery window that keeps the setup out of everyone’s way.
Do you provide a certificate of insurance? Yes. Send the exact name your company, property manager or venue needs, and we’ll email the certificate before the event.
Who runs the Gladiator Joust? A Game Craze operator runs the joust. For several of the other games, we ask you to provide a volunteer to watch the line.
How much room does the lineup need? Plan on about 30 x 30 ft for the joust, 25 x 13 ft for Human Pool, 20 x 30 ft for six holes of mini golf and 18 x 18 ft for Soccer Darts. Most of the inflatables need one circuit each.
Can we hold the event in a public park? Check with the city or the park about permits before you book rentals for a public space.
Why Independence Is a Natural Fit
A few facts about the city we’re delivering to, for anyone curious.
- A “second downtown.” With just over 7,600 residents, Independence is often called Cleveland’s “second downtown”. Freeway interchanges for I-77 and I-480 sit at its north end, and the city describes its business corridor as one of the most significant in the region. That makes it a natural place for company events.
- A quarry that dates to 1892. The Hydraulic Press Brick Company opened here in 1892. As of a 2014 history piece, the site was owned by DiGeronimo Aggregates and still producing material for lightweight concrete, across about 200 acres with quarry walls about 200 feet high.
- The old sycamore. A local historian calls a giant hollow sycamore near Riverview Road, nicknamed the “peace” tree, an icon of Independence. He says it is old enough to have stood when Native Americans lived in the valley.
- Dutch Corners. In the late 1800s, the corner of what is now Rockside and Brecksville Roads was Dutch Corners, a saloon and inn that served as a stagecoach stop.
- A pro practice facility. Independence is also home to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ training facility.
