The Square That Rolled Into a Circle, and the Depot That Got a Second Life
Copley Square, Rounded Off
In 1831 two acres at the center of the township were handed over for public use as a town square. Farmers met there on market day, and their horses and wagons kept cutting across the corners until the square wore into a circle. The township notes that modern right-of-way maps still draw it as a square, and some highway signs still say Copley Square. A gazebo has stood in the middle since 1974. Read the story on the township’s Copley Circle page.
All Aboard Since 1891
Train service reached Copley in 1891, and a depot went up to match. In 1974, with the old depot about to be demolished, neighbors banded together, moved it to Copley Road just west of the cemetery and formed the Copley Township Historical Society in the process. A restored 1949 caboose now sits beside it, according to the Summit County Historical Society.

Copley Party Rental FAQ
Which ZIP code covers Copley?
Copley Township is 44321. We drive to every corner of it, from the Copley Circle area and Montrose to Pigeon Creek, and we also cover neighboring Fairlawn and Bath. Enter your address on the quote form and we’ll confirm.
Can inflatables go up at Copley Community Park?
No. The township’s pavilion rental rules say rental tents and inflatable carnival-style rides or toys are prohibited on park grounds. Keep the pavilion for the picnic and put the inflatables in a yard, church lot, school field or business lot. Questions go to the Service Department at 330-666-0365.
What about the gazebo on Copley Circle?
The gazebo is reserved through the township, and its use needs the Trustees’ approval for non-residents. See the Copley Circle page and ask the township before planning any rentals there.
Do you handle Copley-Fairlawn school events?
Yes. We’ve worked the middle school before. The district office or PTO gets a certificate of insurance with its name on it, and our crew can run each attraction start to finish.
How long is the drive from your warehouse?
Short. Our shop is in Norton, the next community south, so Copley is one of the closest places we deliver.
