From Stagecoach Stop to Cheese Country
Long before the estate lots, this corner of old Orange Township was a place people passed through on the way somewhere else, and then a place that made cheese.
Stagecoach lines from Cleveland to Chagrin Falls and Pittsburgh begin rolling through, per the city’s history page.
The state charters the road that would later become Chagrin Boulevard.
Farms turn to dairy, and cheesemaking becomes the area’s main industry, per the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History.
An interurban trolley links the farms to Cleveland and Chagrin Falls.
The trolley stops running the same year Pepper Pike becomes a village.
The Median That Waited for a Train
Gates Mills Boulevard was laid out with an unusually wide median so a rapid-transit line could one day run down the middle and carry commuters out from Shaker Heights. The Depression ended those plans, and the line was never built, according to the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History. The grassy strip is still there.

Pepper Pike Party Rental Questions
Do you deliver to Pepper Pike?
Yes. Our crew drives over from Norton (about 50 minutes) and delivers, sets up and picks up anywhere in Pepper Pike and the neighboring Chagrin Valley towns. Add your address to the quote form to confirm the date.
Our lot is wooded and sloped. Is that a problem?
Usually not. Point out the flattest open patch, how far it sits from the driveway, and any garden beds or low branches. We’ll place each piece around them.
What does the movie screen need?
One standard outlet within about 100 feet, a reasonably level spot facing away from streetlights, and your film. Our technical host handles the rest.
Can you work with a school, college or congregation?
Yes. Facilities offices get a certificate of insurance on request, and attendants can be scheduled for the games that need one.
How far ahead should we book?
Graduation season and summer weekends go first. Once your date is set, send the request.
